What is 3K carbon?

The designation 3K refers to the construction of the carbon weave. The carbon bundles consist of approximately 3,000 individual carbon filaments woven into the distinctive 3K pattern. This gives the X-Bow 3K its characteristic carbon appearance and differentiates its construction from the standard X-Bow Carbon.

For this version Skylon uses 40-ton 3K carbon. This makes the X-Bow 3K Carbon the premium option for shooters who value a high-grade carbon construction and a solid crossbow bolt.

Skylon X-Bow 3K Carbon or standard Carbon?

Skylon also offers the X-Bow 20 inch in a more affordable standard Carbon version. Both versions share the same basic 8.7 mm outside diameter and come complete with half-moon nock, insert and screw-in point. The main differences are the carbon construction and shaft weight.

Version X-Bow Carbon X-Bow 3K Carbon
Carbon 24-ton carbon 40-ton 3K carbon
Shaft weight 8.8 GPI 10.4 GPI
Outside diameter 8.7 mm 8.7 mm
Inside diameter 7.6 mm 7.6 mm
Nock Half-moon Half-moon

If you mainly want a good quality and affordable carbon crossbow bolt, the standard X-Bow Carbon is an excellent choice. If you prefer the higher-grade 40-ton 3K carbon construction and higher shaft weight, this X-Bow 3K Carbon is the logical premium option.

Are these crossbow bolts suitable for my crossbow?

Before use, always check the required bolt length, nock type and minimum bolt weight specified by the manufacturer of your crossbow. A bolt physically fitting onto the rail does not automatically mean that it is suitable for every crossbow.

These Skylon X-Bow 3K Carbon bolts have a length of 20 inches and are fitted with a half-moon nock. Only use them when these specifications comply with the requirements of your crossbow.

Inspection and safe use

Always inspect a carbon crossbow bolt before use. Check the shaft carefully for damage, cracks or splinters and make sure the nock, insert and point are securely fitted. Never reuse a damaged carbon bolt.
