The Panda-R Junior is an affordable recurve bow designed to introduce children to real archery in an accessible way. Its low draw weight, simple construction and strong fibreglass limbs make it particularly suitable for recreational use.
With an overall length of approximately 110–114 cm and a draw weight of around 10–15 lbs, the Panda-R is primarily intended for younger beginners. We recommend an approximate age range of 7 to 11 years. Age is only a guideline; height, arm length and strength also determine whether the bow is a suitable fit.
For this model, a shooter height of approximately 110–140 cm and a draw length of around 22–24" are commonly specified.
The symmetrical grip allows the Panda-R to be used by both left- and right-handed archers. This is particularly useful for a first children's bow, as a young beginner may not yet know which shooting side feels most natural.
The soft-grip handle is comfortable for smaller hands, while the fibreglass limbs provide a simple and durable construction.
The set includes two fibreglass arrows measuring approximately 28 inches / 71 cm. Compared with very small children's sets supplied with short arrows, this gives a young archer a little more room to grow.
Additional arrows are available separately. Choose the 28-inch Black Bow fibreglass arrows, suitable for recreational recurve bows and longbows up to approximately 25–30 lbs.
For low-threshold recreational shooting, the Panda-R can also be combined with suitable Archery Tag/safety arrows fitted with a large foam head.
When using these safety arrows, a traditional archery target is not essential. A suitable safe shooting area and sufficient clear space behind and around the target remain important.
Despite its low draw weight, the Panda-R is a real bow. The supplied arrows use normal target points. These are not razor sharp, but an arrow shot from a bow can still cause injury.
Children should therefore always use the bow under adult supervision and only shoot towards an appropriate target. Regularly inspect arrows and the bowstring and never shoot damaged arrows.
The Panda-R is an excellent option for anyone looking for an affordable and durable first bow for recreational use.
For larger children or youngsters who want to develop their archery skills more seriously, a larger junior recurve bow such as the Rolan Snake II will generally provide a better platform. If an all-in-one set including a target is preferred, the Eleven Junior starter set is another option.
