The Man Kung MK-80A4AL is an affordable and proven 80 lbs pistol crossbow featuring a practical lever cocking system. With speeds up to approximately 160 FPS, it provides considerably more performance than basic 50 lbs entry-level models while retaining a compact, durable and straightforward design.
One of its key features is the rear cocking lever. Moving the lever down uses additional leverage to pull the string into the cocked position. This means you do not have to pull the full 80 lbs draw weight directly by hand, making the crossbow relatively easy to re-cock.
The MK-80A4AL features a durable aluminium barrel/rail, a fibreglass limb and an adjustable sight. This version also features an Anti-Dry-Fire (ADF) system, which helps prevent the crossbow from being fired when no bolt is positioned on the rail.
The MK-80A4AL is particularly attractive if you want a traditional 80 lbs pistol crossbow with lever cocking at a competitive price. Compared with basic 50 lbs models, it adds more performance, durable aluminium construction and Anti-Dry-Fire protection. If you want even more speed and more advanced operation, the Hori-Zone RedBack is a logical next step. The EK Archery Cobra MX Deluxe Wood also stands out through its classic wood look and more convenient options for fitting a different sight.
The standard sight is mounted on an 11 mm dovetail rail and can be removed. There is no Picatinny rail underneath, however. A red dot or other sight with a standard Picatinny/Weaver mount therefore cannot be fitted directly; a suitable 11 mm-to-Picatinny/Weaver adapter is required. This is an important difference compared with the EK Archery Cobra MX models, which provide a Picatinny mounting option after removing the standard sight.
At approximately 898 grams and around 50.8 cm long, the MK-80A4AL remains compact and easy to handle. Its aluminium barrel/rail, fibreglass limb and straightforward recurve design create a relatively simple system for recreational crossbow shooting.
