400+ fps performance in a traditional full-size configuration
The Hori-Zone Orion II is a powerful full-size compound crossbow for shooters who want high performance combined with a more traditional compound configuration. With a 205 lbs draw weight, 15" power stroke and speeds exceeding 400 fps, the Orion II delivers serious performance, while its adjustable stock allows the crossbow to be adapted to the individual shooter.
Within the Hori-Zone range, this gives the Orion II a distinctive position. It delivers 400+ fps performance without using the extremely narrow configuration found on models such as the Sirius III. This makes it particularly suitable for shooters who deliberately prefer the handling and appearance of a more traditionally configured full-size compound crossbow.
400+ fps with a 15" power stroke
The combination of a 205 lbs draw weight and relatively long 15" power stroke produces speeds exceeding 400 fps. Hori-Zone states approximately 131.43 ft-lbs of kinetic energy when using a 385-grain crossbow bolt.
This places the Orion II firmly within the performance segment. Its high speed produces a relatively flat bolt trajectory, making it particularly attractive to recreational shooters who value precision and performance at longer distances.
Traditional full-size compound configuration
The Orion II measures approximately 17.75" / 45.1 cm wide when uncocked and 14.5" / 36.8 cm when cocked. It is therefore clearly wider than the most compact 400+ fps compound crossbows.
This is not necessarily a disadvantage, but rather a different design choice. Not every shooter prioritises minimum width. The Orion II is aimed at users who prefer a recognisable full-size compound layout, stable handling and a more conventional cam configuration.
Its adjustable stock also allows the crossbow to be better matched to the shooter's build and preferred shooting position.
Rope cocker as standard, crank upgrade available
The Orion II is supplied with a rope cocker. This reduces the effort required to cock the crossbow and helps draw the string back more evenly.
An important advantage of the Orion platform is the possibility of upgrading the crossbow with a dedicated crank cocking system. This makes the Orion II particularly interesting for shooters who want to start with a conventional rope cocker while retaining the option of significantly increasing cocking comfort later.
Who is the Orion II for?
Within our crossbow selection profiles, the Hori-Zone Orion II is particularly well suited to Performance & Power, Precision & Distance and Upgrade & Progress.
It is especially attractive to shooters who:
Shooters whose main priority is minimum width may prefer a more compact compound design. Those who want maximum cocking assistance straight out of the box may be better served by a model such as the EK Archery Vulcan 415 Silent Crank with its integrated cocking system.
The Orion II's particular strength is its combination of 400+ fps performance, traditional full-size handling, adjustability and upgrade potential.
