EK Archery Premium Short-Bolt Target – specifically developed for short crossbow bolts

The EK Archery Premium Short-Bolt Target Set is a specialised premium crossbow target for short crossbow bolts and modern compact and repeating crossbow systems. EK Archery developed the target specifically for short bolts and identifies models including the REVO 7, Vlad, Cobra Adder, RX and R9 as suitable systems.

Instead of a conventional bag or foam construction, EK uses a specially designed combination of 7 cm white PU and 2 cm black PU gel. These two layers work together to decelerate short crossbow bolts in a controlled manner and help limit excessive penetration.

Specifically developed for short bolts

Short crossbow bolts can place different demands on a target than conventional longer crossbow bolts. A high theoretical FPS rating alone therefore does not automatically indicate how deeply a short and relatively thin bolt will penetrate a particular target.

With this premium target, EK deliberately uses a dedicated short-bolt construction rather than relying solely on a general maximum FPS classification. This makes it particularly interesting for modern magazine-fed and repeating crossbows using short, specialised and often relatively expensive bolts.

Important: shoot from the front side only

The order of the two PU layers is an integral part of the target's design. The white PU layer must face the shooter, with the black PU gel layer positioned behind it. The target is therefore intended to be shot from this side only.

This distinguishes the EK Premium Target from double-sided targets such as the Speedbag 20 and Steambow AR-Series target.

Modular and replaceable

An important advantage of the system is its modular construction. EK provides the target bag, canvas target faces, white PU layer and black PU gel layer as separate components. In principle, this means that wear does not always require replacement of the complete target. Actual availability of individual replacement parts through Boogschietshop may vary.

The two supplied canvas target faces are attached to the front using the four target pins. The aiming surface itself is therefore also a separately replaceable component.

No general FPS guarantee

EK Archery does not give this target a simple maximum FPS figure as a universal stopping guarantee. Its suitability is instead based on the specialised construction for short crossbow bolts and the specific crossbow systems identified by EK.

Even with this specialised target, actual penetration is influenced by bolt type, weight and diameter, point type, impact speed, shooting distance and target condition. Compatibility with the specified systems should therefore not be interpreted as a guarantee that every bolt will be completely stopped under every possible condition.
