Actual speed therefore depends on bolt weight, with heavier bolts generally producing lower speeds than the maximum manufacturer rating.

Extended Bullpup Trigger for improved balance

A distinctive feature of the HEX 400 is EK Archery's Extended Bullpup Trigger configuration. The grip is moved forward to make the crossbow's overall layout more compact and improve operational balance and ergonomics.

The trigger has a stated pull weight below 3.5 lbs and incorporates Anti-Dry Fire protection.
