The EK Archery Cobra RX Adder is the original 5-shot version of the well-known Adder repeating crossbow. It combines an auto-feeding magazine with the integrated underlever of the Cobra R9/RX platform. After each shot, operating the underlever cocks the crossbow again and allows the next bolt to move from the magazine into the firing position.
With a 130 lbs draw weight and approximately 240 FPS with a 205-grain bolt, the Adder is about more than maximum speed. Its key strengths are rapid repeat shooting, lever-assisted cocking, an adjustable shoulder stock and the extensive Cobra R9/RX ecosystem. This original 5-shot version therefore remains an attractive way to enter the Adder platform when the larger 7-shot 2.0 magazine is not required.
This is the original Adder configuration: a 5-shot magazine combined with the 130 lbs RX front end and integrated underlever. It provides the core advantages of the Adder concept in a relatively straightforward configuration.
Compared with the current Adder 2.0, this version not only carries two fewer bolts but also uses the earlier front/hand support and a different stock design. The 2.0 is therefore the more developed and complete version, while this original 5-shot model remains particularly interesting at a lower price point.
Key compromise: five rather than seven shots are available before the magazine needs reloading, and the ergonomics are simpler than on the newer Adder 2.0. The underlying RX Adder concept with 130 lbs recurve front end, underlever and modular platform remains intact.
The original Cobra RX Adder was developed around a 5-shot top-loaded magazine. Five dedicated short carbon bolts are positioned above the rail and fed sequentially into the firing position as the crossbow is re-cocked.
There is no need to manually place a new bolt on the rail after each shot. This creates the characteristic Adder cycle: shoot, operate the underlever, feed the next bolt, aim and shoot again.
Both versions are based on the established Cobra RX Adder concept, but the 2.0 is the further developed configuration.
The 5-shot Adder is therefore not positioned above the 2.0. Instead, it provides a more affordable entry into the same Adder/RX platform for users who do not require the additional magazine capacity and updated configuration.
The Adder uses the Cobra R-series Integrated Under Lever System. The large lever beneath the crossbow is used to draw the string back into the cocked position after every shot.
Lever assistance provides a mechanical advantage compared with directly drawing the 130 lbs recurve front end by hand. Combining the magazine and underlever is what makes the Adder a true repeater: re-cocking and feeding the next bolt form one continuous operating cycle.
The RX recurve front end has a 130 lbs draw weight and approximately 7.5 inches / 19.1 cm power stroke. The current factory specification for the 130 lbs RX Adder platform is approximately 240 FPS with a 205-grain bolt.
This corresponds to approximately 26.23 ft-lbs / 35.56 J of kinetic energy. The Adder therefore offers substantially more performance than compact pistol repeaters such as the Sobek, while its main advantage remains the combination of performance and rapid repeat operation.
This original Adder is supplied with the earlier adjustable AR-style stock, allowing the shoulder fit to be adapted to the shooter and preferred shooting position.
The stock is visibly different from the configuration supplied with the current Adder 2.0. Functionally, however, the principle remains the same: the Adder provides a stable shoulder-supported shooting platform and therefore a very different shooting concept from compact pistol repeaters.
The front end also differs from the Adder 2.0. This original version uses an earlier and simpler front/hand support on the underlever.
Its function remains the same: providing control over the large underlever while cycling the crossbow. The newer 2.0 uses a more developed ergonomic configuration in this area, making this another visible difference between the two versions.
One of the Adder's key advantages over many other repeaters is the Cobra R9/RX ecosystem. The crossbow uses a modular construction and can be separated into its main components relatively easily.
Replacement strings, limb tips, sights, grips and other components are available for the platform. This makes the Adder especially interesting for users who value serviceability, parts availability and long-term upgradeability.
Both are repeating crossbows, but they represent very different concepts:
The 5-shot Adder therefore sits between the simpler Sobek and the more complete Adder 2.0: a proven original repeater platform with strong dynamic shooting, modularity and upgradeability.
The 5-shot magazine is designed for dedicated 7.5-inch / 19.1 cm Adder carbon bolts. The current RX Adder performance specification uses a 205-grain bolt.
Only use bolts that are actually compatible with the original 5-shot Adder magazine. With a repeating crossbow, length alone is not sufficient: diameter, nock design, fletching, point and total weight also affect reliable feeding.

Mooie en krachtige kruisboog. Zeker geen speelgoed - een potentieel dodelijk wapen. Voorzie dus een veilige omgeving om te oefenen.
Geweldig mooie en krachtige kruisboog.
Zeer mooie, kwalitatieve kruisboog. Heeft veel kracht. Het is dus geen speelgoed en je hebt veel afstand nodig. Ik heb er een speciale bag target voor gekocht want dat heb je echt wel nodig als je er thuis wil mee schieten.
