DRAKE Little One – a complete first bow and arrow set for young children

The DRAKE Little One is a lightweight and complete recurve bow set designed to introduce young children to archery in an accessible and enjoyable way.

With a bow length of 39 inches, a low draw weight of approximately 7–10 lbs and a maximum draw length of 20 inches, this model is specifically aimed at smaller and younger beginners.

Unlike many basic toy sets, the Little One uses a plastic riser, fibreglass limbs, a real bowstring and integrated arrow shelves. At the same time, its deliberately low draw weight makes it easier for young children to practise the basic shooting movement without starting with an unnecessarily heavy bow.

Recommended for approximately 5 to 8 years

For this particular model, we recommend an approximate age range of 5 to 8 years. Smaller children may be able to use it somewhat longer.

Age is only a guideline. Height, arm length and especially draw length ultimately determine whether a bow fits correctly. The Little One has a maximum draw length of approximately 20 inches, clearly positioning it as a bow for smaller young archers. DRAKE/BogenSportWelt specifies approximately 7–10 lbs depending on draw length and describes it as a recreational children's bow.

For taller children or youngsters who want to learn archery more seriously, a larger junior bow will generally be a better choice.

Ambidextrous – suitable for left- and right-handed children

The DRAKE Little One is fully ambidextrous. Its plastic grip incorporates an arrow shelf on both sides, allowing the same bow to be used by left- and right-handed archers.

This is particularly practical for a child's first bow because there is no need to choose a dedicated left- or right-handed version beforehand.

Two different types of arrows included

The package contains four fibreglass arrows:

• 2 × 28" fibreglass arrows with metal target points
• 2 × 27" fibreglass arrows with suction-cup tips
• 1 × arm guard
• 1 × finger tab
• 5 × paper target faces / score sheets

This provides two different ways to discover archery. The regular arrows can be used with a suitable archery target, while the suction-cup arrows provide a lower-threshold recreational option when used against a suitable smooth surface.

Please note that a physical archery target is not included. The five supplied targets are paper target faces and need to be attached to an appropriate surface or target before shooting.

Not a toy when using the target arrows

Despite its low draw weight, the set includes two regular arrows with metal target points. They are not razor sharp, but an arrow shot from a bow can still cause injury.

Children should therefore always use the bow under adult supervision. Regular target arrows should only be shot towards a suitable archery target with sufficient clear and safe space behind and around it.

The suction-cup arrows should also never be shot at people or animals. They are recreational arrows and are not Archery Tag or dedicated safety arrows designed for shooting at other participants.
