The X-BOW FMA Supersonic XL M4 combines the extremely compact 120 lbs Supersonic compound platform with an adjustable M4-style shoulder stock. This retains the exceptionally narrow compound front end and strong performance of the Supersonic while providing more shoulder support and a more stable shooting position than the stockless Supersonic Basic.
With a 120 lbs draw weight and speeds of up to 330 FPS, depending on the bolt used, the XL M4 delivers serious compound performance in a remarkably compact format. Its integrated cable and lever cocking system also reduces the force the shooter actually needs to apply during cocking.
The XL M4 is designed for shooters who want to combine the compact dimensions of the Supersonic with additional shoulder support, control and stability. The adjustable shoulder stock helps create a repeatable shooting position while the compound front end remains exceptionally narrow. If absolute minimum dimensions are the priority, the stockless Supersonic Basic is the more logical choice.
The Supersonic XL M4 uses a 120 lbs compound front end with an approximately 7 inch / 17.8 cm power stroke. Actual bolt velocity depends significantly on the type and weight of Supersonic bolt used.
The maximum 330 FPS figure therefore applies to the lighter High Range bolts. Heavier High Impact bolts travel at a lower velocity. Do not select bolts on maximum FPS alone: choose the correct bolt for the intended application and only use bolts suitable for the X-BOW FMA Supersonic.
The key difference from the Supersonic Basic is the adjustable M4-style shoulder stock. It provides a defined shoulder support point and allows the overall length of the crossbow to be adjusted to suit the shooter and preferred shooting position.
Depending on the stock position, overall length is approximately 24–26.4 inches / 61–67 cm. This keeps the XL M4 considerably more compact than many conventional full-size crossbows while providing additional support when aiming.
Some suppliers also refer to this configuration as the Supersonic XL Triangle Stock; this is the same adjustable M4-style shoulder stock.
The Supersonic features an integrated cable and lever cocking system. This mechanically draws the string into the cocked position without the need to attach a separate rope cocking device for every shot.
Despite its 120 lbs draw weight, the supplier specifies a maximum cocking force of approximately 40 lbs / 18 kg. The integrated cocking system is therefore an important part of the practical usability of the Supersonic platform.
The Supersonic compound front end measures only approximately 5 inches / 12.7 cm axle-to-axle when cocked and around 7.9 inches / 20.1 cm uncocked. This extremely narrow profile makes the Supersonic remarkably easy to handle and clearly differentiates it from conventional full-size recurve and compound crossbows.
The adjustable front grip allows the support-hand position to be adapted to the shooter. A 19 mm mounting rail provides a mounting point for a compatible red dot or other suitable aiming device.
Both versions are based on the same compact 120 lbs Supersonic concept but serve a different purpose. The Supersonic Basic has no shoulder stock and prioritises minimum dimensions and a minimalist configuration. The Supersonic XL M4 adds an adjustable shoulder stock for additional support, control and stability. If stable shoulder-supported aiming is the priority, the XL M4 is the more logical configuration.
